Not only are the planned activities designed to incorporate motivation, values, and expectations, but are in place to support family, school, and Social-Emotional-Learning (SEL) Initiatives.
According to The Ohio Department of Education, not only is there a growing number of economically disadvantaged youth in Franklin County, but there is also a 29–32-point gap in math and reading scores between low-income and non-low-income students.
Students have access to laptops, the internet, and the supplies they need to complete their homework or group assignments to enable them to close the gap. Concrete Orkidz remains open until 5:30pm to allow students time to have a snack, complete homework and receive one-on-one support, as needed.
